Paris, SANA- Syrian Culture Week, organized by National Union of Syrian Students in France in cooperation with Syrian Cultural Centre in the presence of Syrian Ambassador to France Lamia Shakour and Deputy Governor of Lyon city Jean Aubert Laverriere, started activities on Monday in the French city of Lyon.
Ambassador Shakour thanked glorious city of Lyon, characterized as the ideal model of communication among human civilizations by the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO , indicating to the civilizational denominators between Lyon city and Syrian cities, particularly because Lyon and Aleppo cities signed a twining agreement.
The culture week is organized in Lyon's palace, including lectures delivered by specialists on the historic and political position of Syria, its effective role in the Arab progress and its role in globalization, in addition to lectures on Arabic and the historical and modern role of the main Syrian cities.
During this week, many of the Syrian films will be screened and a photo exhibition on the historical and tourist attractions in Syria will be organized.
The activity aims at making the French people know more about ancient and modern Syria, in addition to the rapidly developed relations between Syria and France since President Bashar al-Assad's visit to France in July 2008.
