Damascus, (SANA) – Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Hilal al-Atrash and Director General of the International Union for conservation of nature, Julia Marton- Leferve discussed Thursday ways of cooperation and Syria's joining to the IUCN by activating the work of National Committee for Protecting Nature.
The Minister talked about Syria's historic ruins that reach at 400 archeological site, indicating to Palmyra as a reflection of interaction among civilizations.
For her part, Leferve stressed the IUCN readiness to be Syria's partner at international circles showing the necessity of considering environment as a common denominator among countries.
The IUCN has 8 offices all over the world , 2200 officials and 6 scientific departments spread in 52 country .
