Abu Dhabi, UAE, (SANA)- Areas of cooperation between Syria and the UAE are promising in terms of quantity and variety, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid al-Qasimi said on Sunday.

During her meeting with Syrian Minister of Economy and Trade Lamia Assi in Abu Dhabi, al-Qasimi stressed the importance of continued communication between Syria and the UAE in order to overcome the challenges and promote trade and investment relations.

She said the UAE fully supports Syria's efforts to join the World Trade Organization (WTO), voicing her ministry's readiness to offer technical support to help Syria complete procedures in order to obtain full membership in the WTO.

Minister Assi said Syria is keen on developing prospects of cooperation with the UAE, given its advanced position at the Arab level and the world. She also expressed interest in discussing the issue of certificates of origin for national products, which would help step up trade cooperation with the UAE.
