Spain to Help Establish Wind Farm for Electricity Production in Syria

Madrid, (SANA)- Syrian Minister of Electricity Ahmad Qusai Kayala on Thursday discussed with the Spanish officials an agreement on establishing a wind farm in Syria for generating electric power.

Accompanied by a delegation from the leading Spanish company for electric power Iberdrola, Minister Kayala visited a gas-run power plant in Atica near Toledo, and newly-established solar thermal power plant in Ciudad Real city.

The Minister also toured a wind farm for production of electricity based in Agreda city. Kayala and members of the Syrian delegation also paid a visit to a number of factories led by Gamesa Corporation, the leading company in Spain in the renewable energy sector.

Minister Kayal is scheduled to meet Spanish State Minister for Trade Silvia Iranzo to discuss issues of cooperation in the electricity sector.
