Kuwait, (SANA) – The Arab Economic Integration from Perspective of Private Sector Conference kicked off on Tuesday in Kuwait with the participation of a Syrian delegation headed by Chairman of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce in Syria Dr. Rateb al-Shallah.
The two-day conference discusses various issues such as the necessary legislations and policies needed to remove obstacles hindering Arab economic integration and means for providing the necessary environment for the Arab private sector to take up its developmental and social role.
In a statement to SANA correspondent in Kuwait, Dr. al-Shallah said the Conference is preparing for the Arab Economic Summit which will be held in Kuwait in January 2009, pointing out that the issues discussed by the Conference include a Syrian working paper on the role of the private sector and its importance in social and economic development.
For his part, member of the Preliminary Committee for the Arab Economic Summit Abdul Rahman al-Attar said the Conference will be discussing papers presented to the Preliminary Committee in order to prepare them and formulate them to suit the goals and ambitions of the upcoming Arab Economic Summit.
