MOSCOW, (SANA) – Head of the Moscow-based Academy of Geopolitical Sciences Leonid Ivashov criticized the stance of the Arab League, especially the Gulf Countries, towards Syria, Libya and Iran, stressing that they adopt a policy which serves the interests of the West and the U.S.A.
In an interview with Russia Today TV Channel, Ivashov said that countries of the Gulf, describing them as "oligarchy", feared the democratic reform program announced by President Bashar al-Assad, adding that Russia supports the Syrian people who voiced support to the reform program and rejected the idea of foreign interference and economic sanctions.
Ivashov said that Russia always calls for dialogue and it has expressed readiness to play a role in conducting dialogue among all sides.
He stressed that Russia and China won't support the new UN draft resolution on Syria.
For his part, Political Scientist Leonid Savin said that the AL decision to go to the Security Council to settle the crisis in Syria arouse Russia's concern, stressing that Russia won't Support any draft resolution that calls for imposing sanctions on Syria.
Savin added that France and Turkey try to destabilize Syria with all possible means including military support to armed men inside the Syrian territories.
He said that the Russian leadership's decision to sell yak -130 planes to Syria or conduct naval maneuvers in the Mediterranean stresses that Russia will not give up support for Syria.
