Cairo, (SANA) – The Egyptian Committee Against Colonialism and Zionism on Wednesday warned against a plot targeting Syria in preparation for encircling Arab resistance and eliminating it.

In a statement, the Committee, which consists of Egyptian intellectual and political figures, said that Syria's leadership and people were the only sanctuary for resistance in the Arab nation and that Syria defied the economic siege and multiple conspiracies.

The statement said that these conspiracies are caused by the refusal of Syrian national forces to submit to Western dictations and Syria's continuing support of the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance.

The Committee members who signed the statement called for more political reform to follow up on the steps taken by the Syrian leadership recently.
