Beirut, (SANA) – President Bashar al-Assad discussed on Friday with Lebanese President Michel Sleiman the situation in Lebanon and the region, during a meeting at Baabda Palace.

Presidents al-Assad and Sleiman affirmed cooperation between the two countries on all levels within the framework of institutions, particularly after the convening of the Joint Ministerial Committee.

The two Presidents also affirmed their commitment to Lebanon's unity and preventing any discord in it by bolstering national reconciliation and activating the national reconciliation government in this direction to keep Lebanon immune, secure and independent.

President al-Assad to Berri: Preserving Lebanon's Unity, Security and Stability in Face of Israeli Schemes

In the same framework, President Bashar al-Assad reviewed with Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri during a meeting at Baabda Palace the positive developments in Syrian-Lebanese relations and the importance of what has been achieved in this regard.

The two sides stressed the need to further enhance bilateral relations to meet the expectations of the two countries' peoples and serve their mutual interests.

President al-Assad stressed the importance of preserving the unity, security, stability and immunity of Lebanon in face of the Israeli schemes.
