Syria's Interior Minister: More of Arab Cooperation and Coordination Needed

TUNIS, (SANA)_ Arab Interior Ministers Council started its 27th session here Tuesday. Syria's Interior Minister, General Saed Samour, asserted, in a speech to the meeting, that Syria always works for the realization of Arab solidarity, reactivation of joint Arab action institutions, in the interest of Arab causes, safeguarding of the Arab rights, in bolstering of the Arab nation economic, political, cultural and security capabilities.

Minister Samour added that what the Arab nation is exposed to from every form of terrorism, killing, destruction, occupation, and interference in its affairs, deems, more than ever, serious work for active Arab solidarity necessary.

General Samour called for the more of Arab cooperation and coordination as to keep pace with challenges and globalization challenges in different fields, contributing, thus, to the finding of solutions and appropriate means to serve society, achieve security, stability, and provide comfortable life to the Arab People all over their Homeland.

Minister Samour cited among the challenges facing the Arab Nation the ongoing increased Israeli aggressiveness, siege, and terrorism against the Arab People in the occupied Palestine, as well as the Israeli rejection to every international and regional efforts for the realization of the just and comprehensive peace.

As for Iraq, Samour reiterated Syria's desire and work for Iraq's quick recovery out of its dilemma through the participation of all of the national forces in its political process as to achieve national reconciliation, which would secure Iraq's independence, stability, sovereignty, security and integrity.

On the sidelines of the Council Session, a meeting was held between General Samour and the Lebanese Minister of Interior, Zyad Baroud; the two ministers reviewed standing cooperation relations between the two ministries, asserting their shared desire in expanding future cooperation in the interest of Syria and Lebanon.

Minister Samour also met with the secretary general of Arab Interior Ministers Council, Dr. Mohammad Binali Kuman, for talks related to information database network, proposed to link Arab Interior Ministries, in bolstering of communication, security coordination, and crime combating.
