Arab Project to Develop Health Care System Discussed

Cairo, (SANA) – Syrian Health Minister Reda Saeed on Thursday said Arah health ministers discussed developing Arab health services including primary health care, family medicine model and nursing.

Saeed was speaking at a meeting for Arab Health Ministers Council at the Cairo-based Arab League headquarters.

Lebanese Minister of Health Mohammed Jawad Khalifa chaired the meeting which dealt with 11 health topics and H1N1 in particular.

For her part, Assistant Secretary General of Arab League for Social Affairs Sima Bahouth emphasized the council's support for an Arab project on family medicine and the establishment of an Arab medical network to exchange expertise.

The ministers condemned Israeli practices against Palestinians and holy sites in Jerusalem.

Bahouth said the ministers reviewed the health situation in the occupied Palestinian territories. They decided to provide USD 100.000 financial aid to help Palestinians all over the occupied territories.

The two-day meeting will discuss developing the Arab Health Ministers Council's work, financing health services and setting the date and place of the upcoming session.
