OSLO, (SANA) _Ways of bolstering bilateral relations between Syria and Norway, conditions in the occupied Palestinian Territories, as well as Mideast peace process were discussed here Tuesday by Norway's Premier, Jens Stoltenberg and Syria's Foreign Minister, Walid al-Moallem.
Minister al-Moallem conveyed Premier Mohammad Naji Otri's invitation to the Norwegian Premier to visit Syria for talks on bilateral relations. Stoltenberg, voiced hope to pay such a visit to Syria, in strengthening of relations between Norway and Syria in all fields, appreciating Syria's history and civilization richness.
Al-Moallem renewed Syria's calling for the realization of the just and comprehensive peace, based on related international legitimacy resolutions, and Syria's readiness to resume indirect peace talks with Israel, through Turkey's mediation.
For his part, Premier Stoltenberg expressed Norway's concern over current freeze in Mideast peace process, asserting his country's support for the Palestinian people right to an independent state, pointing out that the Israeli settlement policy, and continued siege imposed on Gaza create an obstacle to the realization of the peace.
Earlier, Minister al-Moallem, briefed members of the Norwegian Parliament Foreign and Defense Committee on Mideast situations and Syria's stand on them. The Norwegian MP's showed special interest in the realization of the comprehensive peace as the basis for security and stability in the region.
Further, Minister al-Moallem met, at the Norwegian Foreign Ministry headquarters, scores of Norwegian research centers chairmen, and representatives, for an exchange of viewpoints regarding different Middle East issues.
