Damascus, (SANA) – President Bashar al-Assad on Wednesday received a cable of congratulation from the first religious judge in Damascus Adel Bunduk.

Bunduk said in the cable, "I am pleased to announce it was proved that the first day of Shawal, 1431 is on Friday Sep. 10, 2010, marking the first day of Eid al-Fitr."

President al-Assad also received cables of congratulation from Minister of Islamic Endowments Dr. Mohamad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed, Minister of Justice Ahmad Hammoud Younes and the Grand Mufti of the Republic Dr. Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun.

In the cables, the ministers and the Mufti congratulated President al-Assad and his family on the coming of Eid al-Fitr, wishing him more success, and prosperity and development to Syria. 

President al-Assad also exchanged cables of congratulations on Eid al-Fitr with kings, presidents and leaders of the Arab and Islamic countries.
