Damascus, (SANA) – Syrian authorities on Friday foiled an attempt to smuggle half a million illegal drug pills set to be smuggled to a neighboring country.
The Syrian Satellite Channel said the smugglers put the pills in a plastic drinking straws inside garden fences made of metal due to be exported to a neighboring country through a shipping bureau.
Last month, the authorities were able to foil an attempt to smuggle some 2 million drug pills to several Arab countries. The drugs, which came from Lebanon and were destined for the Gulf States, were valued at more than SYP 90 millions (USD 1.9 millions).
In both cases, smugglers and their accomplices were caught.
