Damascus, (SANA)-Minister of Economy Lamia Assi discussed on Wednesday with Secretary-General of the Arab-Austrian Chamber of Commerce Modar Khoja means of enhancing bilateral trade relations between Syria and the Chamber.
Assi pointed to the trade relations between Syria and Austria at all levels, including the trade, economic and investment ties, calling upon Austrian businessmen to invest in Syria for the encouraging advantages the government provides for investors.
Assi stressed the importance of communication between the Ministry and the Chamber and exchanging information and expertise, adding it is necessary to prepare well for the Syrian-Austrian Economic Forum due in Damascus late March to acclimatize Austrian businessmen to the Syrian economy.
The two sides agreed to discuss the possibility of establishing a joint bank, which is to consolidate bilateral relations.
Khoja offered an overview of the Chamber's activities and the Austrian economy, hailing the role of the Arab community in Austria, including the Syrian community, in supporting development in Austria. He hoped that trade, investment, tourist and cultural ties between Syria and Austria will be invigorated.
