Patriarch of Antioch and All the East Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church Patriarch Mor Ignatios Zakka I Iwas on Tuesday held an Iftar banquet in the name of Christian denominations leaders in Syria in honor of Muslim scholars.
Minister of Islamic Endowments Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed said Syrian people are gathered by love of their country and genuine belonging and faithfulness to its stances.
For his part, Patriarch Iwas pointed out that the participation in the Iftar banquet today is an aspect of our life and a continuation of the common traditions people have enhanced throughout history.
The strength of Syria has always sprung from its national unity. It has become an example to be followed by those who know the value and importance of freedom in strengthening nations, he said.
