Aleppo, (SANA)-Former French President Valery Giscard d' Estaing hailed cultural diversity and coexistence characterizing Syrian society.
''Coexistence is a fundamental value in society, and seeking concord in the relation between societies and countries is no less important than seeking peace, because it is equivalent to coexistence and accepting the other, '' he said.
His remarks came in a lecture on Saturday titled, ''The Role of France and Europe in Seeking Peace and World Harmony'' on the occasion of the Francophone Days in Aleppo.
For his part, Grand Mufti of the Republic Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun stressed the importance of national unity and coexistence in Syria.
''The Middle East issue is neither religiously nor racially inspired, but is a violation of human rights by Israel through seizing Arab lands by force,'' the Mufti added.
