Mar 18, 2010

Damascus, (SANA) – Information Minister Mohsen Bilal stressed on Thursday the close relations between Syria and Turkey and their peoples on a firm base of understanding and cooperation under the leaderships of the two countries.

Minister Bilal's comments came during opening, with Turkish Ambassador to Syria Omer Ohon, a map exhibition titled "an Ottoman Eye on the World" at the National Museum in Damascus.

Bilal pointed out to the cultural importance in supporting friendship relations among peoples and discovering the joint historical values and ties through the thinkers' contributions and Muslim scholars to the human heritage for a future of stability, security and peace.

For his part, Ambassador Ohon pointed out that the rapidly developing deep Syrian-Turkish relations are becoming an example to be followed in the region, clarifying that what links Syria and Turkey is not borders, but rather a united culture and joint historical heritage.
