Damascus,SANA_President Bashar al-Assad hoped the forthcoming Arab Summit will come up with resolutions that enhance the Arab solidarity and lead to practical steps serving Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian cause and an active Arab action to lift the siege on Gaza.

The remarks came during President al-Assad's meeting on Sunday  with Secretary of the General Popular Committee for External Liaison in Libya Moussa Mohammad Koussa who handed the President  an invitation by Libyan Leader Muammar al-Gaddafi to take part in the upcoming Arab Summit due in Libya later this month.

President al-Assad promised to attende the Summit.

President al-Assad and Koussa stressed importance of preparing well for the topics to be included in the Summit's agenda and focusing on following up the implementation of its resolutions.

Koussa expressed appreciation of Syria's efforts to make the Summit in Libya a success and enhance joint Arab action.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem, Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban, Deputy Foreign Minister Fayssal Mikdad, Director of the Arab World Department at the Foreign Ministry and the Libyan ambassador in Damascus.

Last January, President al-Assad discussed with Gaddafi in Tripoli the ongoing preparations for the Arab summit.

The two leaders emphasized the importance of overcoming differences and of Arab solidarity to come up with results that serve Arab interests and meet the Arab people's aspirations.

Also, President al-Assad sent a message last February to the Libyan Leader on how to deal with the Arab situations to provide the Arab summit with the possibility of achieving positive results.
