Aleppo, (SANA)_ French Ambassador to Syria Eric Chevallier on Friday awarded Rector of Aleppo University Dr. Mohammed Nizar Akil the French Order of Academic Palm during a ceremony held at the faculty of medicine, Aleppo university.

Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ghiath Barakat said "The ministry is working continuously to develop scientific relations with France where more than 2000 Syrian students were delegated to study at French universities."

Barakat pointed out to the opening of a developed center for the equivalence of non-Syrian certificate which is the first of its kind in the region, indicating that France had Chosen to be based in Syria.

Dr.Akil, in turn, said that Aleppo university, over the past five years, inked 188 treaties and agreemetns, including 30 agreements with French universities.

He touched upon the interest of Aleppo university in developing scientific relations with The University Agency of Francophonie (AUF).

For his part, Chevalier appreciated efforts made by Dr. Akil in service of scientific, cultural and educational process and scientific research in the two countries.
