Damascus, (SANA)- President Bashar al-Assad strongly condemned on Monday the terrorist attack that targeted the Iranian province of Sistan-Baluchistan and offered condolences to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran over the victims of the aggression.

In a cable sent to the Iranian President, President al-Assad stressed Syria's firm approach that supports all the international efforts in combating all forms of terrorism.

President al-Assad also expressed deep condolences to the friendly people of Iran over the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

The Sunday terrorist attack in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchistan claimed the lives of 42 and injured 28 others.

The attack targeted a meeting of the tribal leaders of the region attended by a number of the commanders of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps.

Abdolmalek Rigi's terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack, according to a statement by Zahdan attorney general.
