Damascus, (SANA)-An official source at the Syrian Foreign Ministry welcomed on Wednesday the agreements that have been reached between Turkey and Armenian on exchanging diplomatic ties and normalizing bilateral relations between the two countries.
The source considered the development an important event that helps achieve stability in the Caucasus.
The source hailed friendship and cooperation relations between Syria and both Turkey and Armenia, commending the results of President Bashar al-Assad's two important visits few weeks ago to Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the talks he held with the Turkish Prime Minister in Aleppo.
During his visit to Armenia in mid June, President al-Assad affirmed that Syria encourages the positive steps the Armenian-Turkish relations witnessed and that Syria is ready to exert all possible efforts to help bolster these relations and push them forward due to the strong relations between Syria and both countries.
In late July, President al-Assad held talks in Aleppo with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
