Damascus, (SANA)- The new Syria Drama satellite channel was officially launched Thursday evening by the Syrian Ministry of Information /Syrian Radio and TV, under the patronage of the Prime Minister Mohammad Naji Otri.
The new channel will broadcast via the Arabsat, Nilesat and Hotbird satellites and will be screening a number of Syrian drama works, as well as daily and weekly programs specialized in cinema and drama works and art news.
"Syrian artists have set an example of high art. Through drama, we pass the high values of our Arab Nation over to the coming generations in order to preserve its human identity," said Minister of Information Mohsen Bilal speaking at the launch event.
General Director of Syrian Radio and TV Mumtaz al-Sheikh said that launching Syria Drama channel was a big step taken by official media, seeking to invest in the success Syrian drama makers have achieved.
The launching ceremony was attended by the Minister of Culture Riad Naasan Agha and a number of Arab and foreign ambassadors in Damascus.
