Damascus, (SANA) – Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad and Assistant Secretary General of Political Affairs at the Brazilian Ministry of External Relations Roberto Jaguaribe signed on Monday a Memo of Understanding between the two Ministries on political consultations and coordination in foreign affairs and international organizations.
The two sides discussed bilateral relations between Syria and Brazil and means of developing them, regional developments, and the preparations for holding the Arab-South American Summit in Qatar next month, in addition to discussing a number of international issues of mutual interest.
Dr. Mikdad affirmed Syria's commitment to developing relations between Arab countries and South American countries, particularly between Syria and Brazil to reflect the historic, human and social bounds between the two countries.
For his part, Mr. Jaguaribe expressed happiness over signing the Memo of Understanding, affirming his countries interest in Syria's pivotal regional role and reiterating his country's support for establishing just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
The meeting was attended by the delegation accompanying Mr. Jaguaribe, the Brazilian Ambassador in Damascus and a number of department heads at the Syrian Foreign Ministry.
