DAMASCUS, (SANA) _ Arab International Committee to mark the 60th anniversary of the catastrophe( Al Nakba) of occupying Palestine has announced a one-year program of work to commemorate Catastrophe.
The program includes marches, protests and activities in all Arab countries to emphasize adherence to the inalienable national rights of the Palestinian people and to express cohesion and solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people against the Israeli occupation.
The committee confirmed yesterday, that the program would include steps on all political, media, cultural and popular levels to revive the Catastrophe. The most important is the preparation for the international Conference to support the right of return scheduled to be held in Damascus on 11-12 on the same day in which the United Nations took the resolution No. 194, the resolution that asserts the Palestinian refugees' right to return.
The committee called for a unified Arab stance to stand by the Palestinian people and enable them to regain their legitimate rights and confront schemes targeting the Palestine cause.
The committee criticized the international silence over the continued massacres perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinian people and the continued siege and the establishment of settlements at the expense of the Palestinian land.
Deputy Secretary General of International Confederation of Arab Trade Unions, General Coordinator of the Arab- International Committee Rjab Ma'touk said: " The Palestinian cause isthe issue of the Arab nation… The Palestinian people today are in need to be embraced by the Arab nation and by the peace and freedom loving forces," He called for putting an end to the openly biased US interventions and blackmails.
Ma'touk appealed all Palestinian forces to strengthen their unity and resolve their differences in accordance with the national interest and Palestinian firms. For his part, Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the Arab and International Forum for the Right of Return Maan Bashour, stressed on the need to confront conspiracies targeting the right of return of the Palestinian refugees, affirming that the resistance coupled with the Palestinian national unity is the weapon to ensure the restoration of national rights and establish a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
In turn, member of the Arab-International Committee, General Coordinator of the Islamic National Conference Munir Shafiq, confirmed that the Palestinian rights are fixed and no one can waive these rights, calling on the Palestinian forces and factions to be united to confront the challenges facing the Palestinian cause.
The Committee will launch an invitation for the 15th day of this month, the anniversary of Palestine's Catastrophe, a day of anger and protest marches in all the Arab countries in addition to organizing marches in the fifth of June in all the refugee camps under the title "March of Return."
In the same context, Syrians and Palestinians are working to complete the flag of Palestine with an area of 27,000 square meters under the slogan " more big flag for more precious homeland". As soon as the flag will be completed, it will be raised in the sky of Damascus. The flag measures 232 meters in length and 116 meters in width.
This activity aims at drawing attention to the cause of the Arab people in Palestine on the 60th anniversary of the Catastrophe. It also aims at emphasizing on the Palestinian national unity and the Palestinians' right to return to all Palestinian territories and trying to record the Palestinian flag as the largest flag in Guinness Book of World Records.
