Syria wins 4 appreciation certificates at International Mathematical Olympiad in South Africa

Damascus, SANA – The Syrian Science Olympiad won four Certificates of Appreciation at the International Mathematical Olympiad held in South Africa on July 6-13.

The national team’s first win of a silver medal in international competitions was last May when the team also earned a Certification of Merit, both at the Asian Pacific Mathematics Olympiad (APMO) organized by Kazakhstan.

Early May, two bronze medals were won by Syrian students at the Asian Pacific Informatics Olympiad, also held in Kazakhstan.
Last year, Syria had three international medals to its name, two in Chemistry and one in Physics.

The national team are taking part in the International Physics Olympiad in Kazakhstan and the International Olympiad in Informatics in Taiwan between 12 and 19 of July.
