Rabah town…an aesthetic painting decorated with blooming flowers

Homs, SANA- Spring in Rabah town in Homs province has a special taste as the town wears a dress of blooming flowers decorated with a necklace of springs embracing the farms.

The 900 meter- high town is located at the slopes of al-Hilo Mountain and it is famous for its green mountains, springs and fruitful trees, on top apple trees.

The number of the town’s locals is about 7 thousands and nowadays some 10 thousand people are living in the town.

The town enjoys a moderate and nice weather in summer, which has made it a very important tourist destination, while in winter the weather is cold.

Planting rain-fed and irrigated apple trees is the main source of the town’s economic revenues as about 5.770 dunums are planted with apple trees.

Olive trees have been newly planted in the town as they are planted over an area of 520 Dunums while the vine trees are planted over an area of 300 Dunums.

Other tree species are planted in the town such as the peach, cherry, fig, pear and quince trees.

In the middle of the town, there is a small mountain named by the locals “Talet al-Za’atara”.

The town embraces several archeological monuments such as the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Church which was built in 1835 and another church built in 1970, in addition to an archeological Roman citadel.
