(WCES-2023): Importance of boosting Lifelong Learning opportunities for all

Havana, SANA-Education ministers in the countries of the Group of 77 and China stressed the need to ensure the quality of comprehensive and equitable education, and to boost lifelong learning opportunities for all, stressing that education is a fundamental human right, and a prerequisite for consolidating peace, sustainable development and social justice.

In the 18th edition of the World Conference on Educational Sciences (WCES-2023) , held in the Cuban capital, Havana, with the virtual participation of Syria, the Education Ministers, according to a statement released on Sunday by the Ministry of Education on its Facebook page, stressed the importance of intensifying commitment and working to achieve the goal of sustainable development, strengthen cooperation between countries to implement and promote the real transformation of education.

The statement affirmed the importance of ensuring the continuity of education and educational funding and protecting it from political and economic decisions and relations linked to the global system, stressing the need to work to address the challenges in the field of education in developing countries.

It referred to the need to strengthen the implemented mechanisms, with the participation of the relevant agencies and institutions of the United Nations, with the aim of launching projects, exchanging good practices and knowledge.

The statement emphasized the strengthening of public policies related to learning and the digital transformation of education systems and the promotion of the construction and use of free educational resources and open digital tools for teachers and students in southern countries.
