Vershinin, Asghar Khaji discuss international issues, situation in Syria

Moscow, SANA-Russia and Iran have discussed a number of issues of common interest, in addition to the situation in Syria, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin discussed with Ali Asghar Khaji, Senior Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs.

“The two sides expressed their common intention to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, including within the framework of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement today.

The Foreign Ministry added that the two sides stressed the special interest in discussing crises and conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa, with a focus on the situation in the Gulf, Yemen, Libya and Syria.
