Mikdad receives credentials of Pakistan’s new Ambassador to Syria

Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayysal Mikdad on Thursday received a copy of credentials of Shahid Akhtar as Pakistan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Damascus.

Minister Mikdad discussed bilateral ties with Ambassador Akhtar, asserting the two states’ determination to promote mutual relations to the highest level.

He also briefed Akhtar on the severe repercussions of the Western and Israeli support to terrorist groups, besides the negative impacts of coercive unilateral measures imposed by the West on the Syrian people.

Ambassador Akhtar, on his part, affirmed his country’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria.
Akhtar also hailed the steadfastness of the Syrians, wishing them further stability and security.

The Ambassador underlined the importance of boosting cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, culture, economy and trade to overcome challenges being faced in Syria and Pakistan.
