Syria condemns U.S. conspiracies against Venezuela, especially latest coup plot

Damascus, SANA – Syria vehemently condemns the U.S. conspiracy of plotting a coup d’état plan against the President of the friendly Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said Monday.

An official source at the Ministry lashed out at the U.S. conspiracies that have for long been targeting Venezuela, saying they aim at undermining the political, economic and social achievements of the Venezuelan people.

The latest of those conspiracies was a plot to stage a coup d’état against President Nicolas Maduro, an attempt the source said “was schemed by circles linked to the U.S polices” and targeted the President’s life.

The coup attempt was announced few days ago by President Maduro, who said the US-backed plan included a plot to destabilize Venezuela and target democracy in the country, stressing that it was foiled.

The Syrian government, the source added, voices its full solidarity with the people and leadership of Venezuela in the face of the U.S. conspiracies “against the Bolivarian revolution.”

Committed to the close relationship binding it with Venezuela, “which has withstood all attacks,” Syria reiterates that it stands “in the same trench” with the Venezuelan people, the source added.

Syria, the source said, demands that these conspiracies plotted by the US against Venezuela be stopped, dismissing them as being in violation of the international law and the UN Charter.
