Russia has no illusions EU’s Russophobic policy may change soon — Lavrov

BAKU, SANA- Moscow has no illusions the European Union may revise its current attitude to Russia and give up Russophobic policies in the near future, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after talks with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov, on Friday.

“We have few illusions that the EU’s current Russophobic mindset will somehow dissipate or change in the foreseeable future, and to be honest, in the long term, too. But this is the path that the Europeans have chosen,” he said.

The European Union’s policies, he went on to say, confirms its unwillingness to create a common space from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean or to fulfill agreements with Russia on the development of common spaces in the humanitarian field, as well as in the spheres of the economy and security.

“The European Union proves that it does not want any unifying tendencies in Europe, that it does not fulfill and is not going to fulfill the existing agreements between Russia and the EU countries regarding common spaces in the economy, humanitarian sphere and internal security. And it does not want to fulfill the tasks that were formulated in line with the noble goals of creating a common space from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean. All this is a thing of the past,” Lavrov said.
