Normalizing Russian-British relations can only be achieved through dialogue, Lavrov says

Moscow, SANA- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that his country’s relations with Britain are at the lowest level in years, expressing Moscow’s readiness to cooperate with London and to normalize these relations within the framework of a dialogue based on mutual respect away from any threats.

Today’s meeting aims to improve relations in accordance with the declared goal of the visit. If this is Britain’s desire, we will do the same, and we can only work to improve relations, which are at the lowest level in recent years, Lavrov said during his meeting with his British counterpart Liz Truss in Moscow today.

Lavrov stressed that “normalization of relations between our two countries can only be achieved through dialogue based on mutual respect for interests and taking steps to find solutions acceptable to both sides away from any threats.”

For her part, the British Foreign Secretary expressed her hope that the meeting with Lavrov would help achieve progress in strengthening European security, noting that the two sides would discuss the situation in Ukraine and that conflicts should be avoided and relations with Moscow should be modified.
