Ala: support of terrorism and  coercive measures pose threat to pluralism  and violate UN charters

Bridgetown, SANA-Syria’s Permanent Representative to the  UN office and other International Organizations in  Geneva, Hussam Eddin Ala, stressed  that intervention in the domestic affairs of other states and threatening their legitimate political systems through supporting terrorism , imposing unilateral coercive measures ,aggression and occupation, along with looting their natural resources of oil and water pose  threat to pluralism  and violate UN’s charters and purposes.

Heading Syria’s delegation to  United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTD), Ala pointed to the bad role of the terrorist war and the illegal unilateral coercive measures that have been targeting Syria for more than 10 years through imposing humanitarian suffering on the Syrian people ,in addition to hindering the country’s efforts for recovery , reconstruction and the return of the refugees and forced migrants due to terrorism ,along with fulfilling 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) .

Ala added that the challenges and additional dangers that Syrians have been suffering from during Covid -19 epidemic came as result of expanding the affected sectors and period of the imposed coercive illegal measures targeting their country.

He said that the so- called “Caesar Act” during such an epidemic represents an example for the arbitrariness in using the financial and economic force for coercive political issues that surpass the national borders of states ,adding that it is also a sample of practicing the economic terrorism that violates the rules of the international law and the UN charters along with the multilateral international commercial system.

The Syrian Diplomat went on to say that overcoming those  unprecedented challenges requires international response based on solidarity and unity along with  activating the multilateral international cooperation to enhance the states’ ability to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
