Nebenzya: Unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on Syria hinder political solution to crisis in the country

New York, SANA-Russia reaffirmed that unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on Syria are illegitimate, pointing out that they hinder the political solution to the crisis in the country.

Russian Today /RT/ website quoted the Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, as saying in a speech delivered on Friday during a Security Council session that the illegitimate unilateral sanctions which are being used as a collective punishment tool and aim to inflame social discontent impede the efforts exerted to realize peace in Syria.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, affirmed yesterday that
US coercive measures hinder the solution to the crisis in Syria and the political process, including the work of the Committee of Discussing the constitution in Geneva and cause an additional humanitarian suffering to the Syrian people.

Meanwhile, Nebenzia criticized what was revealed by the frank recognition of US President Donald Trump that he thought targeting President Bashar al- Assad, indicating “we have recently heard about plans to target a president of a Sovereign state”.

Foreign and Expatriates Ministry affirmed on Thursday that the statements of head of the US administration about targeting President Bashar al-Assad stresses that this administration is rogue and outlaw and follows the same method as terrorist organizations of killing and liquidation without consideration to any principles or rules in order to achieve its interests.
