Damascus, SANA – Several of archeological and historical findings unearthed in Syria bear witness to the old Syrian experience in marble-made pottery industry.
Historian Mahmoud al-Sayyed of the General Directorate of Archeology and Museums stressed that marble was used in pottery and utensils industry in Syria in ancient times.
He cited in a statement to SANA two pots made of white marble as example of the deep-rooted skillfulness of the Syrian craftsmen.
The two pots, he noted, date back to the pre-pottery Neolithic age, specifically in the period between 6400-5900 BC, and were found in the ruins of the 12th burned house in the archeological site of Tal Buqrus on the right bank of the Euphrates River
One of the pots was shaped like a rabbit, while the other had the shape of a hedgehog.
