About 600 thousand university students start taking second term exams

Damascus, SANA- Thousands of university students on Sunday morning started to take the second semester exams for the academic year 2019/2020 as the exams will continue until the tenth of next September amid a commitment to the precautionary measures taken to address the novel Coronavirus pandemic.

According to Dr. Riyad Taifour, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Student Affairs, about 600,000 students are taking their exams.

In a statement to SANA, Taifour noted that all necessary measures have been taken to make the examination process successful, along with giving directions to adhere to the health instructions and the required public safety guidelines in the framework of measures to address the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Ministry called on the universities and institutes the need to strictly adhere to the precautionary and preventive measures taken to address the coronavirus, in order to ensure the safety of the students and the educational and administrative staff in general.

The Ministry stressed the need to fully adhere to the safety and prevention rules, which include the continued sterilization of examination halls and university campuses, avoiding crowding, and preventing student gatherings before the start of the exam and immediately after the exam.

The Ministry also stressed the need for complete adherence to wearing masks by the students and the educational and administrative staff, especially at the examination halls, in addition to using thermometers.
