Tehran: “Caesar Act” illegal and inhuman, will not dissuade Syria’s friends from supporting it

Tehran, SANA- Iranian Foreign Minister’s Senior Assistant for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji has condemned the US coercive measures against Syria, particularly the so-called “Caesar Act”, affirming that they are illegal and inhuman.

In a phone call with the UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen, Khaji said “The new US embargo known as Caesar Act came in framework of exerting pressure on the Syrian people and in completion of Washington’s illegitimate goals.”

Khaji demanded stopping the US policy of imposing embargo which is illegal and inhuman.

He affirmed that these hostile attempts will not undermine the will of the Syrian people and will not dissuade their friends from continuing to support them and to support the legitimate government in Syria.

The two sides also warned off the repercussions of imposing the unilateral coercive measures on the Syrian people, affirming the necessity of delivering humanitarian aid to those who deserve it without politicization, in addition to continuing the political process for resolving the crisis in Syria.

They also discussed the latest political and field developments, as well as the next videoconference for the presidents of the guarantor states of Astana process.
