Engineer Ismail Ismail, Head of Water Resources Directorate in Homs, said in a statement to SANA that the Directorate has started rehabilitating the main channel in the northern countryside of the province according to the contract signed with the General Company for Water Projects at a cost of SYP 334 million and with an execution rate of six months.

Ismail underlined the importance of rehabilitating the network, as it will irrigate agricultural lands in the northern countryside with an area of 11,000 hectares, which constitutes a food basket for the province of Homs, through which farmers can invest their lands in an optimal manner, thus improving their living conditions, pointing out that the number of villages benefiting from it is about twenty villages.

It is noteworthy that the main source of this network is Qattina Lake, where the actual volume of water storage has so far reached 176 million cubic meters.
