Prime Minister: Government committed to caring for families of martyrs

Damascus, SANA – Chairing a weekly Cabinet session on Tuesday, Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi said that the government is committed to caring for the families of martyrs and providing them with the benefits they are entitled to as per Decree no. 43 for 1980 and its amendments.

Al-Halaqi said that the government will continue working to finalize the administrative and legal structure of the Martyr Foundation, in addition to providing financial, medical, and psychological support to those injured during the current events, particularly those who have sustained severe disabilities, with the goal of reintegrating them into society.

He also stressed the need to ensure the availability of goods and consumer products in the markets at reasonable prices, control unproductive government spending, and monitor fuel stations.

The Premier also called on Ministers to specify the tasks and jurisdictions of each Assistant Minister.

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem briefed the Cabinet on the latest political developments on the international arena, while State Minister for National Reconciliation Affairs Ali Haidar proposed a mechanism for improving reconciliation efforts.

During the meeting, the Cabinet approved a bill on the fees of high-school diploma examinations, and two bills on rescheduling loan payments.
