Christian denominations in Syria celebrate Easter by holding prayers and masses

Damascus SANA- Christian denominations in Syria that follow the Gregorian calendar on Sunday celebrated Easter.

In Damascus, mass and prayers were held at the Lady of Dormition Greek Melkite Catholic Cathedral, presided upon by Patriarch Youssef Absi, at the National Evangelical Church presided upon by Pastor Boutros Zaour, at the Armenian Orthodox St. Sarkis Church presided upon by Archbishop Armash Nalbandian, at the Armenian Catholic Sultana of the World Church presided upon by Archbishop Youssef Arnaouti, at the Syriac Orthodox St. Paul Church presided upon by Archbishop Elas Tabbi, and Maronite St. Anthony Church presided upon by Monsignor Michel Fraifer.

In Sweida, mass and prayers were held at the churches of Jesus the King, Filippos, St. Michael, and St. George, and in Lattakia they were held at the churches of Sacred Heart of Jesus, Annunciation, Lady of Lattakia, and the National Evangelical Church.

In Aleppo, celebrations were held at the Syriac Catholic Church, the Latin Chruch, and the Chaldean Church, while in Daraa celebrations were held at the Lady of Annunication Church, St. Elias Church, Lady of Assumption, and Khabab and George Cathedral, and in Hasaka services were held at the Holy Family Church and Jesus the King Church.

In Tartous, celebrations were held at the Lady of Tartous Cathedral, and in Homs at St. Maron Church.

In addition, the denominations that follow the Eastern Orthodox calendar celebrated Palm Sunday, holding services in churches across the country.
