Stolen antiquities discovered by authorities in Tadmur

Homs, SANA-Authorities uncovered a collection of antiquities belonging to the Roman era in one of Daesh (ISIS) former hideouts in the eastern countryside of Homs.

SANA’s reporter in Homs said that the competent authorities operating in Tadmur (Palmyra) discovered during the continued sweeping operations a collection of antiquities belonging to the Roman era which was stolen from one of the tombs in the archaeological area of Palmyra, adding that the collection was prepared for smuggling outside the country.

The reporter added that some of the counterfeit pieces were also found as terrorists apparently tried to camouflage them and use them to facilitate the smuggling of antiquities abroad.

Authorities seized the discovered antiquities and will hand them to Homs Antiquities Directorate in order to return them to their place in the ancient city.
