Syria, Russia to enhance electricity power cooperation

Moscow, SANA- Electricity Minister, Mohammad Zuheir Kharboutli described relations between Syria and Russia as strong , pointing out to the need for developing electricity sector which has been targeted by terrorist organizations over the past years.

The Minister, meeting a number of directors and representatives of Russian institutions and companies operating in the electrical power in Moscow on Monday, Kharboutli said that priority now is to rehabilitate the electricity generation system, including Aleppo Thermal Power Plant, two steam stations in Mhardeh and setting up a power plant in Deir Ezzor Province.

For their part, representatives of Russian institutions and companies affirmed willingness to restore and implement new power projects in Syria within an overall framework to help rebuild the country.

Acts of terrorism led to a huge destruction in electricity sector in Syria and caused big damages to the power stations.
