Lavrov: Russia, China, India agree on speeding up political settlement in Syria

New Delhi, SANA – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed on Monday that his country agrees with China and India on the need to accelerate the process of political settlement in Syria in accordance with UN Security Council resolution no. 2254 and to continue the fight against terrorism.

In a press conference following a meeting with his Chinese and Indian counterparts Wang Yi and Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi, Lavrov stressed that the achievement of a political settlement in Syria is reinforced by moving ahead with the Astana process and the Syrian National Dialogue Congress.

He asserted the need to combat terrorism in all its forms, including confronting the dissemination of the ideology of extremism and the importance of cooperation with all countries in this field.
