Syria, India to enhance industrial cooperation

Damascus, SANA- Caretaker Minister of Industry Kamal al-Din Toma discussed Wednesday with representatives of Indian Cosmos Company prospects of cooperation in the industrial field and means of developing it for future joint projects.

Toma affirmed Syria commitment to develop economic relations with India to promote them up to the level of the standing political ties through making use of the Indian companies’ expertise, establishing joint projects and restore companies which were affected by terrorist attacks.

The Minister pointed out to the need for benefiting from the Indian development in the technical and industrial fields, particularly in the chemical, food and engineering domains.

He proposed a joint project to establish a factory for phosphate fertilizers in Palmyra and import machines and equipment to mend and re-run the affected factories.

Director of the Indian company showed readiness to cooperate with the Syrian companies, especially in the fields of phosphates, medicines and reconstruction.

He said some projects will face financing obstacles, but efforts would be exerted to provide an Indian credit line.
